9/5/12 Introducing Rainbow Trek An annual event organized by Year 13 Students of Island School Compulsory for Year 12 and Year 13 students to participate in this trek Rainbow Trek used to support Rainbow Project for the past seven years (a project that helps autistic children) After reading about New Sight Congo, members of the organizing committee of Rainbow Trek reached out to us. This year, the proceeds of Rainbow Trek will support a New Charity: New Sight Congo
9/5/12 Updates from Congo: Joyce is in the process of setting up an eye clinic within Pioneer Christian Hospital, a well-established non-profit making hospital in the north of Congo Dual identities: A missionary too! She is also spreading the gospel by hosting Sunday school and Sunday services. At the moment, Joyce is still working hard at securing funding, equipment, medication and other consumable surgical items and optical aids for her clinic.
9/5/12 The trek: Hong Kong Trail One of the most established hiking trails of Hong Kong The whole trail runs from The Peak to Pok Fu Lam Reservoir The trail is divided to 8 sections, with road marks placed every 500 meters Participants will try to complete sections 1 to 4, covering a distance of 25 km.
9/5/12 Logistics: The trek is open to students from S4 to S6. Role of younger girls from S1 to S3: as supporters or fundraisers! Each team consists of 4-6 trekkers, and a maximum of 4 supporters/fundraisers. Each team should start and complete the trek as a team. A group leader should be elected from each team to act as the contact person. Each team is assigned a tracker. The tracker will call up each team every hour to check on their progress and whereabouts. The minimum fundraising amount for each team is 2,500 HKD. Team members should all try their best to fundraise from their friends and family.
9/5/12 The Dates Training Session: Saturday 13 th October Assemble at 8:15 am at the entrance of Hong Kong Parkview, No. 88 Tai Tam Reservoir Road Repulse Bay, Hong Kong Try trekking sections 5-8, the tougher 25 km! The Rainbow Trek: Saturday 10 th November Assemble at 8:15 am at the fountain at Peak Galleria Participants are strongly recommended to attend the training session.
