Cubism By: Lara Abbas-7B
A Picture of Cubism Here is a picture of cubism just to give you an idea of what I am going to be talking about for this powerpoint presentation. Juan Gris Portrait of Picasso Made in 1912 oil on canvas, Art Institute of Chicago
What is Cubism/When Did It Start? Cubism was the first 'abstract' art style which began in the early 1907s when artists such as Georges Braque (French) and Pablo Picasso (Spanish) began painting in such a way that was far removed from traditional art styles. The Cubists tried to create a new way of seeing things in art. Many of their subjects, be they people or landscapes, were represented as combinations of basic geometric shapes - sometimes showing multiple viewpoints of a particular image.
Pablo Picasso and his Artwork "Woman in a Blue Hat" by Pablo Picasso. Here is an example of Picasso's cubist portraiture. He paints his subject from more than one point of view: head- on and in profile at the same time. The colors are expressive and the space is fragmented. Picasso's art makes us look at and think about familiar things in new and different ways.
Point of Views Omar (brother): Its really strange and abnormal. Mother: It is very unique and different but at the same time it is very weird. Although in the end I love it! Noor Salem: This picture is creative! I like it! Seba Al-Aker: These is a very odd picture but it has a good use of shading, creativity and shapes. Alia Hajji: I’m going to exactly agree with Lara’s mom because it was exactly what was in my mind. Lena (sister): Perfect! These are the pictures I admire! The colors go perfectly together!
Who Inspired The Artist? Pablo Picasso was inspired by Paul Cezanne's The Great Bathers, his mom and Paul Cezanne. Paul Cezanne Still Life Ginger Jar and Eggplants,
Where was Pablo Picasso from? Pablo Picasso was from Malaga, Spain. Pablo Picasso was born October 25, 1881 and died on April 8, 1973 in Mougins, France. 1 st Day and Last Day
Do you like this style of art? Why or why not? I love this style because, well first of all you must know that most women that Picasso drew is actually his lover ; I think her name is Marie-Thérèse Walter. Then, you must say that he used the different sorts of colors such as cool and warm colors, so there's kind of a clash. You could also say that he used jubilant colors to show his happiness, and the way he feels about her. He used geometrical shapes which is basically his signature, his way of painting, and to us it marks the time of "modern art”.
Different artworks Apple Elena Kolotusha Still Life A Woman in a Blue Hat Picasso Pablo Portrait/Still life
Different artworks The difference between them is that the apple looks like its right there, just reach out and grab it feeling. In the other hand, the woman- I’m going to be completely honest here and say, it looks surprising and repulsive, but the good feeling of repulsive. I love the painting but it gives me chills if I saw this person infront of me. In conclusion this the apple looks like it’s infront of you but the woman, not so much.
