Finding my Career Including: My career cluster, my top 3 job choices, descriptions, nature of work, work conditions, education/skills, job outlook, salary/graph spreadsheet comparison, and etc.

My Top Career Cluster The career cluster I fall in is “Arts, A/V Technology, and Communications”. Jobs that fall under this category rear toward the artistic side like acting, drawing, performing, producing, and etc.

My Top 3 Career Choices Since I am heavily involved with theatre and the arts, I have already had my top 3 careers in mind. My top 3 career choices are 1. Actor 2. Singer 3. Lyricist/Creative Writer

Skills of an Actor Study and rehearse roles from scripts in order to interpret, learn and memorize lines, stunts, and cues as directed. Work closely with directors, other actors, and playwrights to find the interpretation most suited to the role. Perform humorous and serious interpretations of emotions, actions, and situations, using body movements, facial expressions, and gestures. Perform original and stock tricks of illusion to entertain and mystify audiences, occasionally including audience members as participants.

Skills of a Singer Practice singing exercises and study with vocal coaches, in order to develop their voices and skills and to rehearse for upcoming roles. Interpret or modify music, applying knowledge of harmony, melody, rhythm, and voice production to individualize presentations and maintain audience interest. Memorize musical selections and routines, or sing following printed text, musical notation, or customer instructions. Perform before live audiences, or in television, radio, or movie productions Sing as a soloist or as a member of a vocal group.

Skills of a Lyricist/Creative Writer Choose subject matter and suitable form to express personal feelings and experiences or ideas, or to narrate stories or events. Confer with clients, editors, publishers, or producers to discuss changes or revisions to written material. Develop factors such as themes, plots, characterizations, psychological analyses, historical environments, action, and dialogue, to create material. Revise written material to meet personal standards and to satisfy needs of clients, publishers, directors, or producers. Write words to fit musical compositions, including lyrics for operas, musical plays, and choral works. Follow appropriate procedures to get copyrights for completed work. Collaborate with other writers on specific projects.

Nature of Work for an Actor Play parts in stage, television, radio, video, motion picture productions, or other settings for entertainment, information, or instruction. Interpret serious or comic role by speech, gesture, and body movement to entertain or inform audience. May dance and sing.
