Presentation transcript:

Overview  In today’s day and age, new technology is constantly being made. Computers in particular have become a critical part of our every day lives.  Since the mid 1900s when computers first started being created, the computing power for them has increased exponentially while the size for these machines has decreased.  They are ideal for use at home, school, and in office type settings.  Computers have become especially useful in making medical advancements and the medical field; computers can be programmed to do specialized things.

Organizing Data!!!  Computers are used extensively for sorting data.  Data can be stored and managed in two ways.  These ways are by creating folders and also by using queries.  They make direct data access organized and efficient.

Data Retrieval  The internet can be used for verifying eligibility of patient insurance.  Finding diagnoses codes for patients through online databases.  Hospitals are largely network based enabling different hospital departments to connect to one another efficiently.

Surgical Robotics  Robotics have become increasingly innovative in the medical field. The da Vinci surgical system is a internationally recognized surgical robot.  “Seated comfortably at the da Vinci console, your surgeon views a magnified, high-resolution 3D image of the surgical site.  At the same time, state-of-the-art robotic and computer technologies scale, filter and seamlessly translate your surgeon's hand movements into precise micro-movements of the da Vinci instruments.  The System cannot be programmed, nor can it make decisions on its own. Rather, the da Vinci System requires that every surgical maneuver be performed with direct input from your surgeon.”  system/
