What is a dangling participle? Why are dangling participles bad? Dangling participles are tricky words or phrases that change the meaning of a sentence. Dangling participles are bad because they could change the meaning of your sentence and make the sentence not make sense. Example: Bad sentence- Lying out on the grass, the trees were beautiful. Good sentence- Lying out on the grass, I thought the trees were beautiful.
