The events of December 7 th 1941

Where Pearl harbor is

When it started It was a surprise attack. The first wave was sent and got there at 7:53am and started to attack The second wave was at 8:55am Nine hundred people died in the first twelve minutes It went on for two hours and two minutes In Washington President Roosevelt picked up the phone and Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox was on the line. He received an urgent message from Pearl Harbor saying ”AIR RAID PEARL HARBOR……this is no drill”

The Enemy They had planes like this. The one in the top right corner is one that actually attacked Pearl Harbor. They only used two different types of planes, a6m Zeros and D3A Vals. They used torpedoes and bombs to bomb the shallow harbor. The trick for the torpedoes was to put a wooden ruder on the back of the torpedoes.

The Planes They Bombed They bombed planes like p40 war hawks and wildcats and some bombers.

The Ships Their main target was the navy fleet stationed at Pearl Harbor

The most famous Ships The to most famous boats are the SS. Arizona and the SS. Missouri The Arizona was the most famous because it was the biggest and the most men got killed on it. The Japanese got the perfect hit on it when they bombed it right were we held the ammo. So a big explosion happened and the ship flipped over. It took two days to open the hull with jack hammers. Some of the men survived by staying in the air tight rooms with the door closed but most did not survive.

The next day The next day, President Roosevelt asked congres to declare war the day after the next day they did the did

revenge The U.S.A. got revenge by bombing Japan in the famous Dolittle raid. In this raid jimmy dolitle lead a squad of b-24 mitchels on a suicide mission to bomb Tokyo. Luckily most of our men survived the mission.
