Aims and Objectives  Our main aim is to explain the term DID/ Multiple personality disorder and probe into the symptoms the cause and any kind of potential therapy proposed.  We conducted a research analyzed the data and reached conclusions, fulfilling our objectives which were to promote research skills and cooperation competencies.  Please enjoy our really interesting findings.

What it is  Dissociative identity disorder is a mental disorder on the brain characterized by at least two distinct identities that alternately control a person's behavior.

Is it real?  The diagnosis itself remains controversial among mental health professionals.

Symptoms  Presence of two or more distinct or split identities  Inability to recall key personal information.  Highly distinct memory variations.

 The "alters" or different identities have their own age, sex, or race.  As each personality reveals itself and controls the individuals' behavior and thoughts, it's called "switching."  Depression  Mood swings  Suicidal tendencies  Sleep disorders  Anxiety, panic attacks, and phobias  Alcohol and drug abuse  Eating disorders

What causes it?  Psychological response to stresses, particularly during early childhood years.  99% of individuals who develop dissociative disorders have been victims of life-threatening disturbances at young age  neglect or emotional abuse  physical or sexual abuse.  Childhood trauma

How Common Is Dissociative Identity Disorder? the rate of DID is.01% to 1% of the general population. 7% percent of the population may have undiagnosed dissociative disorder.

How Does Dissociation Change the Way a Person Experiences Life?  The distinct personalities may serve diverse roles in helping the individual cope with life's dilemmas.  there's an average of two to four personalities present when the patient is initially diagnosed.  Then there's an average of 13 to 15 personalities that can become known over the course of treatment.

 There are several main ways in which the psychological processes of dissociative identity disorder change the way a person experiences living, including the following:  Depersonalization.  Amnesia.  Identity confusion or identity alteration.
