CONTENTS  Introduction  Sources of energy  Reasons of power crises in Pakistan  Remedial measures  Conclusion

INTRODUCTION An energy crises is any great shortfall (or price rise) in the supply of energy resources to an economy. It usually refers to the shortage of oil and additionally to electricity or other natural resources.

SOURCES OF ENERGY  RENEWABLE SOURCES  NON RENEWABLE SOURCES

RENEWABLE SOURCES Solar energy Hydropower Biomass Bio fuel Geothermal Wind energy

NON RENEWABLE SOURCES OF ENERGY Coal Oil Natural gas Nuclear power

REASONS OF POWER CRISES IN PAKISTAN  Economic and Political instability  Fluctuation of internal oil prices  Aging of equipment  Unproductive efforts  Mismanagement of energy resources

REMEDIAL MEASURES Reactivation of the closed power generating units. Installation of biogas, solar, wind, hydro based projects in the villages. Installation of coal based power houses (Thar coal project). Exploration of more oil, gas and coal reserves. Provision of incentives for up gradation and training to the engineers for new technology.

Energy crises in Pakistan is multi factorial in nature.Hence,it needs multi dimensional solution ranging from reconstruction of mega projects to minor schemes. Furthermore, it is incumbent upon concerned authorities to revisit household uses of energy and revamp transmission system of electricity through out the country. Besides, Govt should repay circular debts to those authorities which are primarily responsible for energy proliferation.
