Faculty of Department of 2 WHAT IS A DATA WAREHOUSE? A Data Warehouse (DW) is a database used for reporting and data analysis. It is a central repository of data which is created by integrating data from one or more different sources. Directorate: Strategic Management Support

Faculty of Department of 3 GENERAL REPORTING CHALLENGES Most of the data is stored in ITS, which is difficult for end-users to access The data stores were designed for transaction processing not reporting Obtaining the data or a report usually requires waiting for a programmer to develop the report End-users do not have the knowledge of what is kept in the existing data stores.
