Chapter Role in Satellite Process Membership Application ▫Required recommendation and assistance from your Chapter: Questions on Narrative “Please provide information on how the new Satellite links to the NCA-approved chapter growth plan and does not duplicate service coverage of any existing Accredited, associate/developing or affiliate center.” “In order to process your application for Satellite membership, a letter of recommendation from an NCA chapter in your state is required. This letter must directly reference the applicant’s readiness for Satellite membership. You may also include letters of recommendation from Accredited NCA members, a member of the NCA Board of Directors, or the Director of your Regional Children’s Advocacy Center, but these will not supplant the required letter from the NCA chapter. (However, If your state does not have an NCA recognized chapter, a letter from your Regional CAC will suffice.)” The Chapter representative will be requested to participate in a conference call with NCA staff and the agency representative. Considerations for Applying for Satellite Membership with NCA The Host CAC is stable, in good standing with NCA and the provision of services meets the accreditation requirements. The Satellite member could be developed within the existing service area of the host CAC in order to: ▫Decrease/make management the travel time for clients ▫Provide full scope of services to underserved areas ▫Improve the provision of services in those areas by establishing stronger ties with the local community and thus enhancing the funding opportunities Example: an existing host agency that is covering 17 counties and requesting opening 2 Satellite centers that will cover the furthest counties The Satellite member could be developed outside the existing service area of the host CAC in order to: ▫To provide services to previously unserved areas
