Outline Project overview Block diagram Design challenges Individual contributions Project demonstration Questions / discussion

Project Overview The OmniGlove is a home automation glove with a design focus towards the visually impaired. It is able to control home appliances such as lights and IR devices. The OmniGlove utilizes hand movements and gestures for intuitive home automation.

Block Diagram

Design Challenges Flex Sensors – Conceptually great, actually terrible Wear over time Needs Calibration Easy to break Next time – potentiometers or accelerometers IR communication Best way to send from glove (has to stay put) Raspberry Pi hub Control lights Simple method was chosen over X10 or similar... Many more!

Individual Contributions John Wyant Jacob Wiles Aashish Simha Richard Park

John Wyant ATD Gesture recognition algorithm Calibration Raspberry Pi commands (IR and lights) Integration and debugging Packaging

Jacob Wiles Schematic PCB Design microSD Communication Mp3 Decoder Soldered most components. Designed OmniGlove and OmniHub enclosures.

Aashish Simha ATD microSD communication Mp3 Decoder Rotary encoder Integration PCB testing

Richard Park 9-axis (i2c) Accel Gyro Magnet Bluetooth (uart) CMD mode Master mode Raspberry Pi Pairing Read CMD Decode CMD EXE CMD Auto-Login

Project Demonstration 1.Track finger movement 2.Provide verbal feedback 3.Recognize hand gestures 4.Control basic devices such as lights 5.Control IR based devices such as TV
