Water is a very precious resource that we all need in order to be healthy, however many people around the world do not have access to clean water because it contains germs and bad chemicals. Water is used in toilets, taps, piped to homes and businesses.
This Graph shows the amount of taps that are placed and used around school. As you can see, there are the same amount of hot taps as cold taps. This graph also shows that there are many taps scattered all around our school. This Graph shows the amount of taps that are placed and used around school. This graph shows the amount of toilets, urinals and showers including the area that they are in. There is 180 children in our key stage and there are 22 toilets therefore there is 1 toilet for every 9 children (1:9). If you are a child at our school, you are no more than 24 seconds away from a toilet. Our toilets flush after we use them and that uses 6 litres of water.
This is a map of our school showing the water using stations e.g. taps, toilets etc. As you can see this map is very carefully labelled to show the areas in our school that use water.
Here is a diagram that shows the treatment our water gets after it has been used – this is called the water treatment cycle. Firstly, the water start as rain and lands on mountains then most of it sinks into the mountain but some of it comes out of the mountain in springs and are joined by mini rivers called tributaries ; they form rivers that flow into other rivers and then into the sea. Many people across the globe don’t have access to clean water because they don’t have the infrastructure. Luckily, in our country (England) we have all the infrastructure a country needs. Therefore we continuously get water which is good because then we can live long, healthy lives. Infrastructure
