CHANNEL ISLAND BIOGRAPHY The Channel Islands are an archipelago of British Crown Dependencies in the English Channel off the French coast of Normandy. They include two separate bailiwicks the Bailiwick of Guernsey and the Bailiwick of Jersey. They are considered the remnants of the Duchy of Normandy and are not part of the United Kingdom.

LONGUEVILLE MANOR RESORT APOLLO HOTEL  Longueville Manor ( ,£240) is the Channel Islands' classiest hotel. This much-extended old Norman manor is in the classic country-house mode, with hushed lounges, an oak-panelled restaurant plush bedrooms, plus 16 acres of grounds that include an outdoor pool.  One of the most well- equipped hotels on Jersey, with 2 pools, 2 bars, 2 restaurants and free parking, Apollo Hotel is located at the heart of St. Helier. The large, luxury outdoor swimming pool is built around the garden, and has a water slide.

 Jersey Zoo Jersey Zoo Established in 1959 by Gerald Durrell the Zoo is a very popular attraction on the Island With its strong emphasis on education and conservation it's a wonderful place for the whole family to visit.  Jersey Maritime Museum Set in the stunning St Helier harbor the museum focuses on the maritime heritage of the Island and contains hundreds of interesting objects relating to the sea. Jersey Maritime Museum

 Channel Islands National Park provides a delightful break from the congestion and clamor of urban life. The islands are ideal for quiet, uninterrupted time with family and friends- wonderful places to hike, camp, snorkel, kayak, bird watch, take photographs, sketch, or just relax to the soothing sounds of the natural world.

 Channel Islands National Park lies in a remote, isolated area at the confluence of two major ocean currents, a region of persistent ocean upwelling, and the border of two tectonic plates. The wealth of natural resources in Channel Islands National Park offers the public unparalleled opportunities for solitude, tranquility, wildlife viewing, outdoor recreation, appreciation of natural history, and environmental education.  Park waters are also exceptionally productive. Cool, nutrient-rich ocean currents swirl around the islands, rising into abundant sunlight and mixing with warm coastal waters. The combination of nutrients and sun accelerates photosynthesis and the growth of multitudes of sea life all the way up the food chain-from microscopic plankton to blue whales

language of the United Kingdom is English (Brit ish English),which is spoken as the primary language of 95% of the UK population The Welsh language is also an official language in Wales and is the second most spoken language in the United Kingdom, after English.  The culture is quite varied across the UK. All major cities have theatres, music halls and museums to visit. Most other areas will have something on offer too; whether it's a rural show, well-dressing or a community hall dance.  To get a real flavor of the people, visiting a pub is essential, as it is the social heart of most communities in the UK, though judge carefully!

FASHION MUSIC  As the UK is very much a western society - they wear very much the same as any other modern western society - ranging from Jeans and Tee shirts to full business suits for office work Special clothes for the climate include heavy overcoats or anoraks for cold wintry weather to raincoats and umbrellas, for weather rain. Materials used cover every type and color of fabric available, especially consider that Britain is a multi cultural society and in certain cities.  United Kingdom has been a major exporter and source of musical innovation in the modern and contemporary eras, drawing its cultural basis from the history of the United Kingdom from church music, from Western culture and from the ancient and traditional folk music and instrumentation of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
