Probability – Compound Events

What is a Compound Event? It is the probability of two or more things happening at once.

Lightning strike! What’s the probability you will be struck by lightning?

ORGANIZED LISTS List all the possible outcomes that could occur.

PROBLEM #1 If you were flipping a fair coin and rolling a die, what is the probability of getting tails and even number.

PROBLEM #2 Mary Louise has a closet filled with 5 shirts – Blue, White, Red, Yellow and Purple and 4 pants – Black, white, gray and brown. What is the probability of her blindly reaching into her closet and pulling out a pair of pants and shirt of the same color? PROBLEM #3 If you toss a coin three times, what is the probability of getting at least two heads. Flip 1Flip 2Flip 3 HHH HHT HTH HTT THH THT TTH TTT

TREE DIAGRAM If you were flipping a fair coin and rolling a die, what is the probability of getting tails and even number.
