According to an IBM Institute for Business Value Survey, two of every five US and U.K. consumers say safety concerns dictate what food they will and won’t purchase. Also unsafe food can be hazardous to health. For everyone involved in the food chain, food safety is not only a moral responsibility but also means increased business and profitability. Page - 3

Therefore, everyone involved in the Food chain needs to know of internationally recognized standards on Food Safety Management system for implementation. Stake holders in the food chain include Primary Producers, Food Manufacturers, Transport and Storage Operators, Food Service Outlets and Service Providers. Page - 4

Food Safety is related to the presence of food-borne hazards in food. These can occur at any stage of food chain and therefore adequate control throughout the food chain is essential. This means each of the stake holders must know and implement food safety standards at their level Page - 5
