A Carbon footprint is a measure of the impact our activities have on the environment, and in particular climate change. It relates to the amount of greenhouse gases produced in our day-to-day lives through burning fossil fuels for electricity, heating and transportation etc. WUBu8

My house hold footprint For a house of five : 1.25 metric tons: 1/5 of 3000 USD ($) of electricity in New York 2.77 metric tons: 1/5 of 3600 USD ($) of natural gas in New York 4.12 metric tons: 1/5 of 1800 US gallons of heating oil 0.93 metric tons: 1/5 of 800 US gallons of propane

How we can reduce our carbon footprint My Family could reduce our carbon foot print by using energy saving light bulbs in all of the rooms in our house because we only use them in a few. We could also be sure to turn off all the lights when we are not using the room or the television.

My family already uses cold water for our laundry to make sure it doesn’t waste electricity by making the water warm. We also make sure we fill our dishwasher full before we run a cycle so it doesn’t waste water.
