Carbon Footprint What can I do to reduce mine?

At Home Change the light bulbs in your house. Both CFL and LED light bulbs offer high energy savings. LED lights last longer and use less energy, however they are more expensive. CFL bulbs are cheaper and some LED bulbs require different fittings than current lights are made with.

At Home Unplug appliances when not in use. Replace paper napkins with cloth napkins to reduce garbage. Drink tap water instead of buying bottled water. Turn down the heat in the winter and the air conditioning in the summer. Recycle whatever you can.

At Home Thoroughly insulate your house. Heat can escape through the roof, floor, walls, and windows. If you can make more heat stay in your house, you use less energy because you don’t have to continue to reheat it.

Out of the House Avoid purchasing items that have a lot of packaging. Bring your own bag to the grocery store. Run all of your errands in one trip to use as little gas as possible. Buy local and organic foods.
