Dr. Burrill Bernard Crohn  in 1932 he described a series of patients with inflammation of the terminal ileum, the area most commonly affected by the illness

What is Crohn’s?  inflammatory disease of the intestines that may affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract from mouth to anus

Symptoms  abdominal pain  diarrhea (which may be bloody)  vomiting  weight loss  skin rashes  arthritis  inflammation of the eye

Causes  genetics (mutations in CARD15)  environmental factors  immune system  microbes (Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis)

 endoscopy  radiologic tests  blood tests  comparison with ulcerative colitis Diagnosis

Treatment  medication (corticosteroids, 5-aminosalicyilic acid, azathioprine, mercaptopurine, methotrexate, infliximab)  lifestyle changes (hydration)  surgery
