Save Yourself, Save the Others “Nesho Bonchev” High school, panagyurishte bulgaria

Identifying the major issues related to safety on the road and mobility in Panagyurishte Municpality. Designing posters with the basic problems in the town and involving non-governmental organizations. Responsible behavior - since a European project started in order to improve the infrastructure of the town, all of us are common with the dangerous situation in the town. Last 5 minutes everyday lessons are reminding to watch out going back home. We take responsible actions every school day. Street Safety - Reduce accidents on the road and minimize risk factors! Discussing the road problems with parents, taking part in joint-activities with NGOs, policemen’s lectures and etc. Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists – be careful on the road. Safety for All – Supporting a Facebook page and presenting lectures in classes.

Team Warning Brothers – We worked in charge of Road Safety, Responsible Behavior and developed leaflets and brochures. Team Lecturers – Risky Behaviour, Safety for All- lectures and posters

OUR IDEAS We encouraged non-governmental organisations and institutions in Panagyurishte Municipality to join our initiatives and present them together. We became familiar with the resources and started working together on the following topics -Responsible Behaviour; Road Safety ; Safety for All. OUR INITIATIVES  November – Exhibition “Against victims on the road”  December - „Christmas on wheels“ – leaflets including advices; - The Best Young Driver (School Christmas ball in a restaurant)  January – „Golden class“ – spreading flyers among the audience  February Trailer – statistics Taking part in the District Commission for Safety on the Road in Pazardzhik – sharing and reporting our ideas and initiatives in Pazardzhik Municipality together with NGOs. The event and all ideas were spread in the media and involved more co-thinkers.

 March: Sharp Eye Photo-competition SEP. It was looking for law-breakers on the road. Students chased violators and uploaded their papparazi pictures in our FB group Save Yourself, Save the Others. Some students were awarded.  Martenitsa & Calendar “Nothing is more important than Life” - an initiative of Nesho Bonchev High School was supported by the vice district Manager and the chairman of the Pazardzhik District and the Police in Panagyurishte.  A poster – all ideas, activities and statistics for the Pazardzhik district. The poster is spread among the institutions and petrol stations in the region.  Media support  April A mourning march for Pepi. May his memory lives forever. STOP, killers on the road!” - the aim of the march was to demand a fair process for the killers on the road and warning the society that we take care about our children’s lives. We would like to fight for justice and road safety. Stopping a child to ride his bike is like cutting bird’s wings.

We discussed different topics about road safety and sustainable mobility. The main themes: - Being careful when we are on the road no matter whether we are travelling by car, bicycle or on foot. - Crossing the road, especially when it is winter, it is slippery and the vehicles or pedestrians are dangerous (survey). - Avoiding accidents and trying to make a difference – spreading our film, an exhibition, lectures and presentations, special trainings among students and citizens.

A School Exhibition “Stop - Save the Child” Students prefer riding a bike to driving a car. They try to avoid various dangerous situations. Younger pupils organised the school exhibition. Older students made aware the younger ones with the trafic signs, discussed different dangerous situations and presented important rules.

We joined the world initiative to show our support. We presented an essay in the media and lit candles in our hands.

To encourage people (drivers, riders and pedestrians) to behave sensibly on the road/ streets, we organised two encouraging campaigns for citizens and spread leaflets.

Nothing is more important than Life! The aim of the event was to prevent traffic accidents and take care for all participants in the traffic. On the 1 st March volunteers from Nesho Bonchev High School took part in an initiative “Nothing is more important than Life”. The students spread calendars together with a martenitsa (red and white threads) that according to the Bulgarian traditions brings to you health and happiness. The special image on the calendar was drawn by Anastasiya Lulcheva.

Congratulations on Tsvetina Ontsova! She got her prize in Sharp Eye Competition for the best paparak!

Distributing the presentation among young future drivers If you want to be armed, you must be informed!
