Trends and Projections  Aging population will impact architects, doctors, occupational therapists, pharmacists and physical therapists.  Strong job prospects for medical professionals willing to work in rural, inner-city, low-income and medically underserved areas.  The role of physician assistants is expected to expand as states allow assistants to do more procedures and as insurance companies expand coverage of physician assistant services. Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics A Higher Degree of Study - Professional Programs at SUNY

Trends and Projections  Demand for occupational therapy services will stem from patients with autism spectrum disorder.  Job opportunities for advanced practice registered nurses may exist from attrition.  Higher than average retirement for dentists and optometrists will leave an employment void.  Demand is projected for architects with knowledge of green (sustainable) design. Trends and Projections  The number of pharmacy schools has grown in recent years, creating more graduates. Residency programs and certifications give students advantages.  Because of strong competition, a law graduate’s willingness to relocate and prior work experience are becoming more important.  Veterinarians can expect very strong competition, but are qualified for employment in nontraditional industry positions.
