About This PowerPoint briefly explains how Beijing, Paris, and Los Angeles have changed from 1900, to 1950, to 2000.

What is a Settlement? A settlement is a site where people live in. Different types of settlement patterns include nucleated (buildings that are very close together), linear (buildings that are built along a river or road), and dispersed (buildings that are well spread out). Different types of settlement towns include industrial town, market town, holiday resort, port, and many others.
