Heat is energy. A slow-moving molecule is a cold molecule. A fast-moving molecule is a hot molecule. To heat something up is to speed up its molecules.

Heat (energy) can be transferred from object to object. Heat transfer: The movement of heat from hotter objects to colder objects through conduction, radiation, and convection.

Conduction: The transfer of heat between substances in direct contact. If two objects touch, energy is transferred from the hotter object to the cooler object.

Gloop Conduction A hot (red) gloop touches a cold (white) gloop in the game. The gloop skin has tiny fibers, some of which touch. The heat moves from a warmer to a neighboring cooler fiber, leaving the warmer one cooler and warming the cooler one. When all fibers are equally warm, the movement stops.

Radiation: When electromagnetic waves hit an object heat energy is transferred to the object. Waves of radiation travel easily in a vacuum as there are no obstacles.

As the gloop in the game rises, it transfers its heat to the egg through radiation which Is seen as a halo around the gloop. Gloop Radiation

Convection: Liquids and gases rise as they get heated and fall as they cool. Heat is carried from place to place with the movement of these fluids.

Gloops in the game can transfer heat by convection when heat moves with the gas or liquid until it touches a cooler gloop. Gloop Convection

Example of… Conduction being warmed by touching a hot cup—or loosing heat by touching an ice-pack, which gradually becomes warmer from the heat leaving your skin

Example of… Radiation being warmed by sunlight, which travels through space (a vacuum)

Example of… Convection being warmed in a room heated by a stove, where the air carries the heat around the room—or in a bathtub, where the water carries the heat from the boiler
