Data Management and 2 Way Sync using the Connected Community

Connected Site Building Blocks Trimble File Sync: Sending Files Between Filed and Office Avoid rework Avoid downtime Protect / backup data Tools Site Positioning Machine Control File Sharing What you need Office Software SCS900 Data Manager Office Synchronizer Business Center - HCE Field SCS900 / 700 Field Software TSC3, TSC2, TSC1, TCA1 Web Hosting Connected Community What you need Office Software Office Synchronizer Business Center - HCE Field GCS900 Field Software CB430, CB460 SNM940, SNRx20 Web Hosting Connected Community What you need Office Software TCC Explorer Field Trimble Tablet Web Hosting Connected Community Welcome Page We will focus today on the getting the job site more automated using wirelessly syncing to move data between the office and the field Operators of SCS900 and GCS900 field systems equipped with cellular modems or other means of accessing the internet can be notified of the availability of new sites, designs and work orders on TCC, and that data can be wirelessly provided to those systems, while they remain in the field. Measurement results and other data collected by those field systems can also be wirelessly transmitted back to the synchronization folder on TCC, where it can be shared with other field systems or accessed by authorized office. A contractor’s TCC site can be used as a centralized location for the field data synchronization folders that are associated with Trimble’s Site Controller Software and Grade Control Systems. By maintaining these synchronization folders on a TCC site, any field or office system with Internet access can be granted access to the related data, enabling unprecedented project collaboration and data sharing ease Today, we will show you how to use these tools on the job site.

Plan for presentation – LIVE DEMO Plan would be to show live demos – ppt’s just showing what I would show and for others to understand the flows> Site Positioning 2 Way data with the Tablet Emulator and TCC Machine Control with the Emulator and TCC TCC Explorer with TCC

Remote Data Management – 2 Way Data Site Positioning Lets start with Site Positioning and getting the work orders to and from the job site

Remote Data Management & 2 Way Data Eliminate office to field driving with Trimble File Sync Tools available: Trimble Data Collectors TSC2s, Trimble Tablets, TCA1s SCS900 / SCS700 Data Manager Trimble Software Business Center - HCE SCS900 Data Manager Office Synchronizer Connected Community Trimble has the following tools available for doing two way data

Work Order Communication for Site Topo Use Current Method and upload the work orders when crew is back in the office OR We could use the current method – Have the field crew upload their completed work orders when they get back to the hotel at night or

Use the Connected Community Sync and Sync Wirelessly Office Staff Field Crew Internet Internet Or we can Use the Connected Community Sync and send it while they are out in the field. Using TCC allows you to send the data wirelessly – eliminated the USB cable and need to be back in the office. Job Site Trailer Internet

Connected Community Sync–One-time Setup Add the Device Access the Data Collector To do this – there are a few simple set ups needed: Add the device to TCC Access the Data collector Add TCC Org Login Credentials Add TCC Login Credentials

Sync your Data from the Field with the Office – Wirelessly! Sync a Site with TCC Upload And Sync wirelessly -- Completed

Connected Community Sync to your PC Add TCC login credentials to Office Synchronizer Login to TCC and select the device Next step is to keep the files on your PC the same as what the field just synced to the community. Again, we have just a few one time setups like adding your TCC login credentials into Office Synchronizer. Once the credentials are set up – login and select the device name from the drop down list. Your screen will display the data to sync. The two Trimble Synchronizer Data folders will be compared. Down arrows mean it hasnt’ been synced to the Office Synchronizer folder Up arrows mean it hasn’t been synced to Connected Community. Either sync one site by highlighing the appropriate files or to sync all – click the green Sync icon on the top toolbar Highlight 1 site to sync or sync all

Adding Data Collectors that are not Synced to TCC Select Batch Sync Add Collectors to TCC If you have have other data collectors that are not yet synced to the Connected Community, you can add them using Batch Sync. Click the Batch Sync button and you will see a list of your data collectors that are currently syncing to your PC using Office Synchronizer. Highlight one or more and click add to TCC. Again, once added, there are two options for syncing. Either select individual files or select all.

Remote Data Management – 2 Way Data Machine Control Use TCC Sync on a CB430 running GCS900 11.21 for lightning fast data synchronization to Connected Community. (LC comments – not sure what changes we might add about Torch and the CB460) GCS900 takes advantage of a smart algorithm that eliminates various delays associated with traditional FTP data transfer.

Machine Control Sync using the Connected Community Add Device to TCC Just like we did with the Data collectors, we need to add the devices to TCC using the Device Manager I’ll show you how to do this using our emulator but of course there are several settings and configuration that need to be done on the actual device in the field. Your Trimble Dealer is certified to set this up for you. Set up Permissions

Machine Control Sync using the Connected Community Set up Credentials on the CB430 Once the device has been added in TCC, access the CB430 and add your TCC credentials Access the Sync Option and Synchronize Now -- you have moved the files from the Community to your device. If you have turned on the Production Rerporting – when syncing, you will also have the ability to send information back to the community. Sync your Design

Access from the Community to Other Programs

Remote Data Management – 2 Way Data File Sharing and Connected Community Explorer

File Sharing and Forums for Communication We need data management and a simple file repository to store the data. The ability to share the data is key and by using The Connected Communities sophisticated permissions, the contractor can create one repository and give access to certain folders to just the owner and allow other folders to be seen by only the sub contractors and Forums are a create way to communicate to other during the project. Email can be cumbersome to find all the people to send to, where as, if you add to a forum – anyone watching this forum can reply.

Connected Community Explorer Drag and drop files / folders quickly Sync one-way from Community to PC Sync from local PC to the Community Another way to communicate quickly and to sync files and documents with the community and other is by using our TCC Explorer. TCC Explorer is a plug-in for the Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 operating systems that makes an organization’s TCC file and folder structure available in My Computer and Windows Explorer areas of the local user’s computer. TCC Explorer significantly improves navigation through The Connected Community by allowing a user to manage files and folders in the same way they would in the Windows operating system. TCC Explorer synchronization allows automatic synchronization between a selected folder on the local computer and a selected filespace/ folder on TCC. TCC Explorer can keep up to 10 pairs of folders synchronized.

Using Connected Community Explorer Browsing files and file structure Computer Trimble Connected Community Organization * (building icon) Filespace ** (file cabinet icon) Folder(s) (folder icon) File(s)   1 - Organization - Note the “building” icon representing an organization. The green checkmark in the icon indicates this is the member’s organization. 2 - Filespace - Note the “file cabinet” icon representing a filespace. 3 - Top level folder (root folder) - Note the “file folder” icon representing a folder. 4 - Sub-folder 5 - Another organization the member has permission to. Notice there is no green checkmark in this icon indicating this is not the member’s organization. * Note the “building” icon representing an organization. The green checkmark in the icon indicates this is the member’s organization. ** Short names are used for both the filespace and folders

Copy / Paste / Delete / Drag / Drop Options available: Rename, Copy, Paste, Cut, Delete Copy/Move functions can be done using the Copy & Delete toolbar buttons, keyboard shortcuts, or drag & drop, just like managing files in Windows. When using drag & drop to move files/folders, the default behavior is to move (cut/paste). Holding the control key while dragging & dropping will create a copy (copy/paste) instead of a move. Show deleted files With the appropriate permissions and roles in TCC you can navigate a folder structure and files and folders can be viewed, created, copied/moved to or from your PC, copied between filespaces/folders on TCC, and deleted just like in (My) Computer or Windows Explorer. Files and folders marked as Accessible by Public Internet are also displayed.   Copy/Move functions can be done using the Copy & Delete toolbar buttons, keyboard shortcuts, or drag & drop, just like managing files in Windows. When using drag & drop to move files/folders, the default behavior is to move (cut/paste). Holding the control key while dragging & dropping will create a copy (copy/paste) instead of a move. To rename a folder, right click on the folder and select ‘rename’.

TCC to Local Only – TCC One-Way Sync Use TCC Explorer to sync to any filespace on the TCC Community where you have permissions. The example below will show you how to sync with TCC marketing materials (including demo scripts, quick setup instruction guides, product bulletins, PowerPoint files and other materials.) Create a folder on your PC named TCC Mkt Materials One Way Sync. Right click on the folder you just created, select TCC Explorer and then select TCC to Local only. Scroll down and expand the TrimbleHH organization, expand the TrimbleSPSSalesandDealers filespace and highlight Resources – Connected Community (TCC). This is the filespace in where TCC marketing materials are created and stored. Click Sync to Filespace. TCCE Synchronization allows automatic synchronization between a selected folder on the local computer and a selected filespace/ folder on TCC. TCCE can keep up to 10 pairs of folders synchronized.   Once a pair of folders are linked, any changes to a file or sub-folder (add, change, delete) in either the specified TCC folder or the specified folder on the local PC will cause the folders to synchronize automatically. Changes to the folder on the local PC initiate a sync process within a few seconds. Changes to the filespace/folder on TCC initiate a sync process every 5 minutes. You can also sync and download software from the Trimble HH Demo Software site. The application runs in the background and downloads the files while you continue to work. If your network connection is interrupted, the sync continues the download when network connectivity resumes.

TCC to Local Only – TCC One-Way Sync When syncing is complete a confirmation message will appear. The folder, TCC Mkt Materials One Way Sync on your local PC now contains all the folders and files stored in the community. When a file is modified, the updated document is changed on your local PC. To sync to a software folder for downloading follow the same steps above, but select a different filespace in TCC and create a different folder on your laptop. NOTE: Trimble Software is found in the TrimbleHH org > TrimbleHHDemoSoftware filespace. Field and office software are in different folders.

Sync Folder to TCC Filespace – TCC -Way Sync Use TCC Explorer to sync bi-directionally between folders on your PC and folders in a TCC filespace. On your PC, from Windows Explorer, find and highlight any folder. Right click and select TCC Explorer > Sync folder to TCC filespace. Navigate to your home organization where a filespace was created that you have permissions‘. Highlight the selected Filespace and click Sync to Filespace on the bottom of the screen. When syncing is complete a confirmation message will appear. The folder on your local PC now contains all the folders and files stored in the community. When a file is modified or a new file added either on your PC or in the community, both folders will be updated and kept ‘in sync’.
