 Acid reflux happens when stomach acids back up into the esophagus  Can cause intense pain since food is not digested and can back up

 Adult symptoms are easier more easier to see then children symptoms  Feeling heart burn (intense pains in the chest)  Some symptoms are harder to see because they link to other functions ( ingestion, stomach ulcers)  Nausea and vomiting  Difficulty swallowing

There are 3 types of treatment methods (lifestyle changes, medication, and surgery)  Changing what you eat and dieting  Altering sleeping positions  Losing weight  Smokers should quit smoking  Medications (antacids, proton pump inhibitors, prokinetics, mosapride citrate, and sucralfate)  Heart burn medications.
