Presentation transcript:

 South African culture can be distinguished from other cultures by simply looking at the number of indigenous cultures that make South African culture.  Heritage plays a big role in distinguishing the South African culture in terms of looking at the origins of South African people.  South African history played an important role in making the country what it is today. The APARTHEID era did a lot of damage to the relations among different peoples of this country. People can now forgive and accept other people’s cultures.

 There are many practices of culture in South Africa due to the different types of cultures and languages.  South Africa is a country which is versatile in its ways of doing things.  The way people communicate with each other, the foods they eat and the clothes they wear differ vastly. This is why we are called a rainbow nation.  Culture is practiced in all areas of the country. Despite the western life styles influence in South Africa, some people try to resist it in order to keep their various South African cultures alive.  Judging from experience of life in South Africa, cultures have their achievements and of course their problems.  These include things such as people (males) dying from going to the mountains for initiation, not attending a calling from ancestors to become a traditional healer.

 Most of the time these practices contribute to having a negative image of culture.  Culture is seen as a positive thing to have, but nowadays people are slowly fading away from keeping culture as a very important aspect in their lives.  In some cases government introduces certain laws and rights that help people escape bad cultural practices  Despite some bad aspects of culture, it is still seen as something important to have.
