Life During The Depression Rural Living Versus Urban Living The Importance of the Family The Role of the Community

Rural Living Vs. Urban Living Food was sparse in the cities. People in the country could get food more easily. Many people were hungry during the depression.

Rural Living People in the country were able to raise their own food. Many men were forced to go to the cities to earn money. Children had to work to help the family

Urban Living Children were often sent to live family in the country. Families had to rely upon Government help.

Importance of Family Extended Family Helped Out the Parents. Grandparents had a great influence on their grandchildren.

Role of the Community Everyone living in the community worked together. Everyone in the community knew each other. Everyone cared about each other.
