School Bullying

1. What is bullying ? 2. Why are Sikh students bullied ? 3. What to do if you are bullied ? 4. What to do if you see someone being bullied ? 5. You might be bullying if… l

 Bullying is when someone tries to hurt or attack someone else by…  Making them feel uncomfortable. l

 Hurting them by kicking, hitting, pushing, tripping etc… l

Activities Like  Name calling and spreading nasty rumors What is Bullying? l

 Hurting the other person over and over. What is Bullying? l

Who Do Bullies Pick On?  Kids they feel are smaller.  Kids they think won’t stand up for themselves.  Kids that have few friends. l

Why Do Bullies Bully? Sometimes...  To impress their friends.  To enjoy feeling power.  They don’t even realize they are hurting someone. l

 Appear different/ look different Why Are Sikh Students Bullied? l

 Never keep being bullied a secret. What To Do If You Are Bullied? l

What To Do If You Are Bullied?  Talk to someone you trust.  If that person can’t help, go to someone else. l

 Try to surround yourself with friends  Try not to let the bully see that your are upset What To Do If You Are Bullied? l

What To Do If You Are Bullied?  Be confident in yourself.  Bullies don’t like people who are not afraid. l

If You See Someone Being Bullied  Try to stop it !  Help the person being bullied- TELL an ADULT l

If You See Someone Being Bullied  If you do nothing, you're saying that bullying is okay with you.  It is best to treat others the way you would like to be treated. l

You might be bullying if…  Is there a kid that you make jokes about ?  Have you ever made fun of someone ?  Have you ever joined in making jokes about someone, either in person or online ? l

If You Are Bullying…  Think about why you do it and how you were feeling at the time.  Remember, it's best to treat others the way you would like to be treated.  Speak to School Counselor(s), Teacher(s), Principal, or a Parent about it. l
