Graffiti Art A Quick History

Graffiti means . . . . . . . In Art History - refers to inscriptions, figures, drawings, found on the wall of ancient ruins. Today - graphics applied to surfaces in a manner that constitutes vandalism. As an Art Style - fine or graphic art that mimics the styles of street art known as graffiti.

During this time, artists began to move from the streets to the subways. Breaking into subway yards established the act of “bombing”.

The 1980s is considered the Golden Age of graffiti art with the emergence of “wild style,” an intertwined and decorative lettering that forms a complex composition.
