VOWEL SOUNDS  What Are Vowels? Vowels include 5 of the 26 alphabet letters. These letters are A,E,I,O,and U. The letter Y is sometimes included, because it can make similar sounds to other vowels. Click the link below to hear the sounds the different vowels make.

LONG AND SHORT VOWEL SOUNDS Deciding whether a vowel makes a long or a short sound can be tricky. The following links will provide different rules to determine which one it is, and give some examples of both long and short vowels. Long vowel rulesShort vowel rules

VOWEL SONG Watch the following video on vowels and answer the questions on the next slide.
