Climbing at Outdoor Adventure Basic warm up activities can begin on site using centre high ropes course and/or climbing wall. Progression involves an excursion to the Pembroke shire coastline or Gower Peninsular where you are treated to the ultimate climbing and abseiling experience.

Climbing is the activity of using one's hands and feet (or indeed any other part of the body) to ascend a steep object. It is done both for recreation (to reach an inaccessible place, or for its own enjoyment) and professionally, as part of activities such as maintenance of a structure, or military operations.

What is Mountain Climbing? Defining the Sport of Mountaineering Mountaineering or the sport of climbing mountains is simply one of the finest outdoor opportunities available to the lover of high places. Mountain climbing is all about challenge and perseverance, about putting hands and feet onto rocks and ice and snow and finally reaching a summit. There, high above the world of cities and civilization, the climber can pause and look across a natural world ruled by nature and her raw beauty.

To climb these mountains, mountaineers must be competent in both rock and ice climbing techniques; able to understand snow, glacier travel, and forecast weather; and above all, they must have good judgment and common sense to stay not only safe but alive.

Climbing Techniques – Abseiling Abseiling or Rappelling is the technique of descending through the use of a fixed rope. This is either done after a climb (going back to the base of the climb), in trying new climbing routes, or where there is difficult access (e.g. sea cliffs) to the start of the climb. Always bear in mind that Abseiling is a very dangerous technique. There are so many things that can happen in doing this activity. This includes the occurrence of a jammed Climbing Rope, equipment failure, ropes cutting through sharp edges or rocks, and other incidents that are risky to the abseiler. Take note that any of these can happen even if you think you have done everything to ensure your safety.Climbing Rope

Mountains are Dangerous Mountain climbing is, like rock climbing, a risky activity and not to be taken lightly not matter how easy or benign your chosen peak might seem. Remember: Looks can be deceiving. The mountains are filled with danger and drama. Lightning can stab out of a clear sky. Thunderstorms quickly form and drench you with rain and sleet. Rock fall and avalanches sweep down mountain faces. Difficulties can slow you, forcing you to bivouac in the open. You or your climbing partner can have an accident, causing all kinds of complications. If you’re a novice and inexperienced in the ways of the mountains, then it’s wise to go with more experienced companions or a guide. You can learn from them what it takes to be safe in the mountains so you can return another day for a new adventure.

Safety Measures -Here are some things to consider in Abseiling: Ensure that the necessary equipment and devices are securely in place. -Have another anchor for back-up (second anchor point). -Avoid positioning the ropes to loose rocks and sharp edges. -Knowledge on how to tie a prussik knot is important. This is a form of backup system in Abseiling. -If you have long hair, do not let it get entangled with your abseil device.

Mountain Climbing in Thailand There are other places apart from Thailand. Tourists have been to most of them, and has promised to provide details and information of some of their trips. -Climbing in Krabi - Phi Phi beach. - In Ao Nang beach. - Climbing on Koh Yao Noi island. - Railay's climbing. - Climbing- Tonsai Beach.

Phi Phi has some great climbs. To the right is a picture of Ao Nang tower. There are better climbs around, but the experience of getting a boat over to the tower and belaying out of the boat is not to be missed. It's a also a good test of your rope pulling skills, a fail means a salty rope...

Thailand Climbing- Tonsai Beach Pictuers Tonsai beach is a gym monkeys paradise. Hundreds of steep generously bolted tendon popping routes ranging from 6a+ to 8c. A great place to hang out climb and day dream of that new project you're about to start sometime after lunch...

The rock is all limestone and is part of the worlds largest coral reef. The routes are all bolted sport climbing routes Railay Beach Getting high on Thaiwand wall - Railay Beach in the background
