Arizona Health Information Exchange and Electronic Health Record (HIeHR) Utility Project  Federal Medicaid Transformation Grant - $12 million to Arizona Health Care Cost Containment system (AHCCCS)  Develop an on-line HIE and EHR system through secure web portal  Goal  Aligned with Arizona Health-e Connection, non-profit to coordinate HIT in Arizona; Arizona Health Privacy Project focused on HIE privacy and security issues; and Southern Arizona Health Information Exchange (SAHIE)  Consumers - Focus Groups, January 2008

Arizona Health-e Connection Mission Statement “To facilitate the design and implementation of integrated statewide health data information systems that support the information needs of consumers, health plans, policymakers, providers, purchasers, and researchers and that reduce healthcare costs, improve patient safety, and improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare and public health services in Arizona”.  Executive Order in Establish Roadmap to achieve a plan for Arizona to achieve statewide HIT and explore the implementation of EHR by 2010  Funding - St. Luke’s Health Initiatives and BHHS Legacy Foundation  Involved Steering Committee, 5 task groups, 250 members, five months. Executive Director Hired - July, 2007 Consumers - Represented on Board and Committees

Health Guide America (cont’d)  Held first Planning Meeting, representing eight local consumer organizations  Establish network to:  Select important initiatives and inform consumers  Support state initiatives  Identify issues and topics for consumer education  Apply for grants and seek other funding opportunities
