H OW TO FIND THE SUBJECT AND THE VERB OF A SENTENCE : To find the subject and verb of a sentence... First find the verb (or action word!) Ex: walk, ran, jump… Then, ask yourself who or what is doing the verb. THAT is the subject of the sentence. Ex: Mike talked to John. (talked is the verb and Mike is the one who talked, so Mike is the subject.)

O N A SHEET OF PAPER, WRITE OUT THE FOLLOWING FIVE SENTENCES. C IRCLE THE SUBJECT AND UNDERLINE THE VERB IN EACH SENTENCE. (I F YOU NEED HELP, REFERENCE THE PREVIOUS SLIDE !) 1.
