THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS 1

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS OBJECTIVES At the end of the lessons the pupils may be able to: a. Identify the 5 senses and their parts. b. Classify the parts of the five senses. c. Distinguish what senses to be used. 2

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS We have different sense organs which help us do many things. Each sense organ has different parts which perform particular function. 3

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS THE SENSE OF SIGHT EYES 4

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS EYES: the sense of sight Our eyes help us see our surroundings. It is very important because we learn about the world through this senses. 6

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Parts of the Eye: Eyelids- it open and close the eyes to protect the eyes from too much light. Eyelashes- a tiny hairs in the eyelids which blocked dust and insect from getting in. 7

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Parts of the Eye: Eyebrows- a hair above the eyes which prevent water from running to the eyes. Cornea- a transparent covering in our eyes. It permits light to enter in our eyes so we can see the things around us. 8

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Parts of the Eye: Iris- the colour part of the eye, it controls the amount of light entering the pupil by making the pupil bigger or smaller. Pupil- located at the middle of the Iris. The light that entered the cornea goes inside the pupil. 9

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Parts of the Eye: Optic Nerves- it send messages to the brain so that we can recognize the object we saw. 10

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS THE SENSE OF SMELL NOSE 11

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS NOSE: the sense of smell The nose makes us smell different things. This sense related to the sense of taste. This is the reason why you have difficulty in tasting food when you have colds. 13

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Parts of the nose Nostrils-The two opening in our nose. It is where air enters. Nasal Cavity- A path where air pass. 14

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Parts of the nose Cilia-A tiny hair that attatch at the surface of nasal cavity. This hairs filters the air by blocking dust particles and small animals from entering the nose. Mucus Membranes-Found at the surface of nasal cavity which moisten the air and makes it warm. 15

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Parts of the nose Olfactory Nerves-It detects the air coming in. This nerves send the smell sensation to the brain. The brain interprets the smell and we finally recognize what the smell is. 16

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS SENSE OF HEARING EARS 17

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS The ears catches sound waves. It makes us hear different sounds. 19

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Parts of the Ear Outer Ear- the ear we see in our heads. Where sounds from the sorroundings are caught. Ear Canal- a certain tuve where the sounds travel. 20

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Parts of the Ear Ear Drum- located at the end of the Ear canal. When sounds waves hit the eardrum, it will vibrates. The motion of the eardrum causes three small bones in the middle ear to move. 21

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Parts of the Ear Auditory Nerves- A part of the ear where signals were send. This nerves connected to the brain where it recieves the message from the auditory nerves we can tell the sounds we heard. 22

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS THE SENSE OF TASTE TONGUE 23

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Our tongue helps us taste different kinds of food 25

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Parts of the tongue Taste Buds-Found at the surface of the tongue. This are actually nerve endings which can recognize different taste. When we eat something these nerves are able to detect the taste of the food by sending message to the brain. 26

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Different Taste of Taste Buds 27

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Different Taste of Taste Buds Tip of the tongue- Taste buds which are sensetive to sweet taste. Side of the tongue-Taste buds which are sensetive to salty taste. 28

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Different Taste of Taste Buds Back of the togue-It can datect bitter foods. Sides of the tongue near the back-Taste buds sensetive to sour foods. 29

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS SKIN THE SENSE OF TOUCH 30

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS THE SENSE OF TOUCH: SKIN Our skin is responsible for our sense of touch. It protects the body from heat and cold pressure. 32

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Main Layers of the Skin 33

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Main Layers of the Skin Epidermis-The skin that we can see and touch. It is made up of daed cells which are rubbed away from the skin. They are replaced by newones below. 34

THE SENSE ORGANS AND IT'S PARTS Main Layers of the Skin Dermis- It is protected by the epidermis. It composed of live cells. It is thicker than the epidermis. It is where you can find blood vessels and nerve ending. The nerves receive the sensation of touch and send it to the brain. The brain tells us the feeling we felt touching something. 35
