Overview You are going to take a key theme from your novel and create a marketing proposal for one of the following ideas: Movie Amusement Park Restaurant Resort You will create a PowerPoint and a written proposal as your graded products. You will also present your PowerPoint proposal to the group and we will vote to see who will win the $10 million prize! (OK, it’s really a homework pass, but still amazing!)

Marketing/written portfolio Table of Contents Summary of Project Long term goals Symbol with definition Persuasive argument – why should you get the money? Research statistics – annotated bibliography Testimonials – annotated bibliography Characterization

Table of contents

Summary of project A long paragraph describing the development of the project from the theme to the product. This paragraph should be a half page minimum in length. It should be a well-organized paragraph with all of the organization that goes with it.

Long term goals This should be a bullet point list of outcomes you expect from your product. For example: Size of business (chain, franchise, etc.) Financial gain (clearly you will be using fictional data) Community impact Any other important outcomes (be creative)

Symbol Choose a symbol that represents your theme! Write a statement (3-5 sentences) explaining the connection between your theme and the symbol. Have a picture of this symbol as a logo for your product.

Persuasive argument This is the research part! Why is your concept the best? Why should you get the cash? Find an article that shows statistics about your category (amusement park, restaurant, resort, movie, or other). Find a review about your novel (any review will do) Then, you will write two annotated bibliographies about theses sources. Don’t‘ worry, we will have a lesson on how to do this next week!

Characterization Each product should include a characterization piece: Restaurant- dishes, name, owners, ingredients, etc. should have a characterization aspect to it. Ex/Ahab = crabby legs Movie- choose actors who best embody the characters in the novel. Resort- the buildings, cottages, suites, etc. Amusement Park- rides, restaurants, etc. All main characters should be represented!

PowerPoint Slides Introduction – Summary piece. Use the one from your portfolio Marketing products- connect product to the book through poster, brochure, pamphlet.
