Warm UP: Career Interest Survey *Answer in complete sentences. What type(s) of careers do you think you want to do? Why might you be interested in those chosen careers? What are some alternative careers that you might want to research?

Activity 145: Career Clusters In order to select a career you’ll be happy with, you should have some knowledge of the many jobs available. The US Department of Labor has outlined 16 Career Clusters that, “Encompass virtually all occupations from entry through professional levels.” These organized Career Clusters are found on the Occupational Information Network called, O*NET Online.

Activity 146 Which two groups are the most appealing to you? Write them in the two blanks.

Career Clusters Getting an appropriate education and training is needed to be competent and competitive in your chosen career. Preparing for a career that doesn’t match your goals and personality is very costly.

Activity 145: Career Clusters Jobs in each category have certain things in common. By investigating the groups that appeal to you most, you may come up with quite a number of possible careers. Go through the clusters, check the box in your workbook next to those that interest you.

Activity 147: Bring in Your Identity Turn back to your personal profile bulls eye and review your values and passions. Review the list of careers noted on pages 145-146. List six careers that compliment your values and passions. Look at your strengths and skills. Do you see any careers within your chosen interest group(s) that also seem to fit with these aspects of your personality? List six other possible careers at the bottom of the page.

Activity 150: Career Interest Survey Objective: To locate, analyze, and apply career information using print and online resources. They’ll also gather preliminary education and training information specific to their chosen careers.
