CII Overview Presentation

Purpose To measurably improve the delivery of capital facilities. Mission Enhance business effectiveness and sustainability of the capital facility life cycle Increase business success and expand global competitive advantage for its members through: active involvement and participation effective use of CII research findings, including CII Best Practices.

CII Principles Place a premium on safety, ethics, continuous improvement (cost, schedule, and quality), and leadership. Maintain owner–contractor member balance. Cultivate high member involvement and participation. Lead industry improvement through an engaged membership. Provide individual leadership development opportunities. Promote a high level of knowledge transfer. Maintain small professional staff.

Academic Committee (AC) Primary forum for the academic community within CII, providing the process expertise of academia to CII. Breakthrough Strategy Committee (BSC) Evaluates ideas from various sources, forwarding those with the most potential to the Research Committee for further evaluation. 8

Implementation Strategy Committee (ISC) Knowledge Dissemination Implementation Strategy Committee Professional Development Committee Focuses on increasing the owner’s return on capital investment on capital projects and increasing contractor profitability. Implementation Resources Implementation Roadmap provides a logical timeline for implementation activities. Implementation Navigator provides resources, training materials and presentations to support the 15 CII Best Practices. Performance Improvement Workshops (PIW) leverage the work of Implementation Champions and practitioners in improving construction project safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance. Implementation Tool Box details the Implementation Model, providing contact to CII knowledge experts, and links to CII products and conference presentations. Implementation Assistant is a Web-based tool that allows you to create and track implementation plans. Knowledgeable Points of Contact are available to assist individuals on how to implement CII research findings in organizations.

Maintains liaison with individuals, institutions, and organizations active in construction education. Custom Programs CII Professional Development Programs can be customized to meet the specific needs of a company. Events CII Annual Conference features presentations on research findings, implementation case studies, and industry trends, along with invited speakers. CII Executive Leadership Program offers a world-class leadership program for senior executive candidates. CII Web Seminars are live events delivered on various topics of interest via the Internet. Continuing Education Courses present CII education modules in an interactive classroom environment at The University of Texas at Austin.
