AGS activities in Telechiu Comprehensive and Complex Services

Glimps  800 (number) of inhabitants – total, Roma, Romanian, Hungarian  No running water - water from the sewage  No electricity  Unpaved roads  Bad housing conditions  Children suffering from rat bites

 65 Families  years old children years old years old

 5 training workshops delivered, to a total of 3 teachers in Telechiu, and 39 in Oradea  5 trainings for mediators in Telechiu,  161 home visits  41 children were enrolled into pre-school  8 children where enrolled into primary school  114 Parents Schools  15 parents (literacy  8 events  48 children receiving meals

Before AGS – June 2010NOW ONLY Medical services: vaccines ECEC Centre (education, feeding, surveillance, care for children and Parents’ Schools) – daily (may 2011) There are children /per day in kindergarten taught in Romanian out of 31 Relaxing activities, interethnic activities for all children and parents Roma and Non Roma ISSA trainings for teachers Storyteller Club - 1 day per week (march 2011)

Before AGSNOW 2 kindergarten groups:  One preparatory group taught in Romanian -No food -No educational materials -No toys -No current water/ poor infrasctructure -Low frequency: 8-10 children out of 18 enrolled children  One in Hungarian -Extended program -Feeding -Educational materials -Good infrastructure -Good frequency 3 kindergarten groups 1.The preparatory group with Romanian as the main language of instruction: increased frequency from 8-10 chlidren/per day to children /per day in this group out of 21 children 2. One NEW group, started in AGS project, for kids 3-4 Years, taught in Romanian 3.For the group taught in Hungarian the quality has increased. 4 Roma children are attending to it and they can benefit from the extended program. Throughout the AGS project we paid the nutrition for them.

 Meetings with the local institutions  ISSA trainings for parents and local educators  Parents Schools (Roma & Non-Roma) and volunteering activities  Leassure activities: parents and children (Roma & Non-Roma)  Life skills Programs for parents and children  Informing and counselling activities on socio-educational problems  Career center  Social services

1.Newly set up kindergarten group taught in Romanian for children 2.Established for the first time creche/ nursery services for children of 0-3 – under accreditation process 3.Improved daily rate of attendance (from 16% to 72 %) in kindergarten 4.School readiness is improved 5.Available services for parents 6.Sustainability, institutionalisation of AGS initiatives (with the support of the local authorities)
