CABANES IS A SMALL VILLAGE WITH 900 INHABITANTS, IN THE NORTH-EAST OF CATALONIA, SPAIN. OUR SCHOOL RE-OPENED 3 YEARS AGO AND FORMS PART OF A GROUP OF RURAL SCHOOLS. WE HAVE 40 CHILDREN FROM 3 TO 8 YEARS AT OUR SCHOOL. DURING THE THIRD TRIMESTER OF LAST SCHOOLYEAR THE TEACHERS, THE PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION AND A PHOTOGRAPHY TEACHER DESIGNED A PROJECT FOR THE CHILDREN TO STUDY CABANES, IN WHICH THEY OBSERVED AND GOT TO KNOW THEIR VILLAGE THROUGH DIFFERENT AND WITH ‘NEW’ EYES. THE DIGITAL CAMERA HAS BEEN THE MAIN TOOL TO EXPERIMENT WITH ON THEIR EXPLORATORY EXPEDITION.

USING THE DIGITAL CAMERA, THE CHILDREN WENT ON EXCURSION THROUGH THE VILLAGE CABANES, DOCUMENTING HISTORICAL AND INTERESTING PLACES.

CHILDREN LOOK AT THE PICTURES OF HIDDEN PLACES IN THE VILLAGE, MADE BEFORE BY THE OTHER GROUP OF THE SCHOOL, AND TRY TO FIND THE SAME PLACE AND TAKE ANOTHER FOTO OF IT.
