SY/Max to Quantum Quick Wiring Adapter (QWA) Frank Prendergast Industrial Solution Center Business Development Manager for Services

SY/Max to Quantum QWA ●What is the Quick Wiring Adapter ●Schneider Electric have designed a new Quantum I/O terminal block that SY/Max terminal blocks connect directly inside. ●This allows SY/Max I/O to be quickly converted to Quantum I/O without disturbing field wiring. ●Cost and Productivity benefits of migrating to Quantum –SY/Max is 187% more expensive than Quantum to repair (on average) –SY/Max is 89% more expensive than Quantum to exchange. (on average) –Quantum Mean Time Between Failure values are 4 to 20 times greater than SY/Max! –Quantum CPUs are 5 to 10x faster leading to greater productivity

●What is the value proposition? ●Utilize existing SY/Max field wiring and terminal blocks –Less time and labor required to change –Reduce chance of wiring errors ●Minimizes conversion time per drop –MINIMIZE PLANT DOWNTIME (associated with the upgrade) –Rewire = 5 to 6 hours per drop QWA = 1 hour per drop ●No wire is removed and circuit board in QWA is validated to be correct. ●Minimizes your overall RISK of change ! ●Minimize your cost and equipment downtime with less expensive more robust Quantum hardware. SY/Max to Quantum QWA

●How it is ordered. ●Please call extension 1 and ask for Field Services. ●and ● a list of all of the SY/Max modules that you want to replace in an to ●We will send you a quotation for the new Quantum modules, Quick Wiring Adapters, and SY/Max adapter plates you need. ●April 20 th first customer order ●Lead time is 4 weeks Current Symax Modules supported 8030-HIM HOM HIM HOM HIM RIM HIM ROM HIM RIM HIM RIM HOM ROM-221/ HOM ROM HOM-231RIM HOM-241ROM HOM-251RIM HOM-261ROM HOM-271

●FAQs. ●Q. Is the new QWA any deeper or longer than my SY/Max system? ●A. Yes. The QWA is ½ inch longer and deeper. ●Q. How do I know what this QWA does electronically? ●A. The QWA connects wire to wire. Each QWA has a unique part number on it that identifies which SY/Max module and Quantum module it is designed for. For example a HIM101DAI5400 states that it is a SY/Max 8030HIM101 module connected to a Quantum 140DAI5400 module. In addition a wiring diagram is included with each QWA. ●Q. Are there any limitations to using the QWA? ●A. The QWA was designed to handle the same worst case electrical conditions as the SY/Max module would encounter. ●Q. Do I have to worry about electrical live wires? ●A. The QWA has a cover (same as standard Quantum terminal block) so it offers the same safety as long as the cover is closed. SY/Max to Quantum QWA

SY/Max to Quantum QWA Installation Step 1 Observe all safety rules and turn off all power sources going to the rack and I/O modules ! Remove all electrical power from the rack and all non I/O modules

SY/Max to Quantum QWA Installation Step 2 Remove all I/O Terminal blocks from I/O modules

SY/Max to Quantum QWA Installation Step 3 Remove all I/O modules from the rack Remove the SY/Max rack

SY/Max to Quantum QWA Installation Step 4 Install the SY/Max to Quantum Adapter plate kit This allows you to install the Quantum backplane without having to drill into the enclosure sub-panel.

SY/Max to Quantum QWA Installation Step 5 Install the Quantum I/O modules in the same location as previous SY/Max I/O module.

SY/Max to Quantum QWA Installation Step 6 Install the SY/Max to Quantum Quick Wiring Adapter terminal block into the Quantum I/O Module. Open the cover To the Quick Wiring Adapter.

SY/Max to Quantum QWA Installation Step 7 Insert the SY/Max terminal block into the SY/Max to Quantum QWA Close the cover. You are now ready to startup your system knowing that the wiring from your older SY/Max system is now being used in your Quantum System !
