Presentation transcript:

How lovely it is to have the lighter, longer and warmer days. Hopefully, we have seen the last of the winter frosts and snow!! We have a busy 3 weeks before the end of term ahead of us – Greens sale, Easter egg hunt, Spring/Easter Hat Parade, Y5/6 assembly and our end of term church service. Details of all these events are given in this newsletter – please mark the dates on your calendars and encourage your children to take part. It is events like these that make school fun and exciting!! We are currently busy planning other exciting activities for the summer term – these will include family learning events, occasions when you can join us in school. As soon as details are finalised, we will let you know. We are so lucky to have such dedicated and committed staff who happily give up their time to ensure school is a happy and safe learning environment full of exciting ways for your child to learn. The summer term is always fun-filled!! As ever, I thank you all for your continued support, especially with Homework tasks and daily reading. Please remember, I am always available for queries or concerns. Erpingham VC Primary School Tel Term Dates Spring Term th Jan – 2 nd April th Feb – 22 nd Feb Summer Term th Apr- 17 th July 25 th May – 29 th May Spring Term School also closed: Friday 3 rd April Monday 20 th July HEAD LICE we have had quite a severe case of head lice in school which seems particularly prevalent in class 1. I would ask that ALL PARENTS CHECK THEIR CHILDS HAIR AND TREAT ANY LICE THEY FIND. Thank you. ABSENCES/ATTENDANCE Please remember to telephone school before 9.30am if your child is sick – you need to phone on EACH DAY OF ABSENCE please. You may have noticed that we are now using the Norfolk County Council recommended ‘Request for leave of absence’ forms. These detail the occasions I can authorise an absence, other than for illness. Going on a regular family holiday in term time is not one of these occasions, so can I please ask you to remember to book holidays out of term time. Obviously sometimes there are exceptional circumstances – in these situations Holidays can be authorised. The information on the back of the leave of absence form explains everything. Thank you all. CLOTHING Remember to send your child to school with the appropriate clothing –change of clothes for Forest schools – Thank You. CHARITY COLLECTIONS Many thanks to you all for your kind donations to Comic Relief this term – total £76. And for the HUGE amount raised for Foodaid at Harvest – total £ That’s an amazing amount. SCHOOL WEBSITE The school website is now live and contains lots of useful information about school life. It’s address is: Do take a look!!

End of term events During the last week of term there will be THREE special events for all the children to enjoy. Weds : Spring Hat Parade – all children are encouraged to make a Special Spring/Easter Hat to wear: there will be prizes! Thurs : Easter Egg Hunt – all children will work together to find 35 hidden flags in the school grounds. If they work together to find all the flags – everyone gets a chocolate egg!! Thurs : We will be celebrating the events of Palm Sunday and Holy Week in a special end of term church service at Erpingham Church at 2.30pm CHILDREN TO BE COLLECTED FROM THE CHURCH PLEASE. PE After the Easter Holidays, all children will undertake their PE/Sport session outside here, at school. During the summer term, we ask that ALL CHILDREN KEEP A PE KIT IN SCHOOL AT ALL TIMES. However, swimming will continue for years 3,4,5 up to the May half term. Please note that it is preferred that NO Jewellery is worn in school at all (except a watch). However, we accept that some pupils will wear small stud ear-rings. ALL JEWELLRY MUST BE REMOVED BEFORE PE BY THE PUPIL – staff are not allowed to remove jewellery. If it is impossible for your child to remove their jewellery themselves, you may provide them with plasters or other covering WHICH THEY MUST APPLY THEMSELVES. The only exception to this is swimming. NO JEWELLRY CAN BE WORN FOR SWIMMING. GREENS! Greens are holding a mothers day sale on Friday 20 th March. The children have been busy preparing for the sale – their products will cost £2 donations. Separate details are attached with this newsletter YEAR 6 SATs Just a reminder that this year the statutory and non-statutory assessments will take place during the week commencing 11 th May It is vital that your child is in school this week – especially year 6 children. This week is the national assessment week for ALL year 6 pupils, but we also use it for assessments for ALL pupils in school. Parking Thank you to those parents who are continuing to park sensibly outside school – However there are still one or two cars being parked on the Yellow lines. Cars parked outside the school gates cause an obstruction to children and parents when leaving/arriving the school. I do ask that we all co-operate with safe parking to ensure the safety of all our children. Vouchers We are again collecting the Sainsburys and Tesco vouchers for school. Please make sure if you receive vouchers when shopping that they do reach us at school. The boxes are in the entrance hall. Y5/6 Assembly The older children in school will be holding a special assembly to show parents and friends all the wonderful things they did at Hilltop. Also at this assembly, the children will be showing 2 short films child they made in literacy this term. Lots of thanks goes to Mr Morris for giving up his time to support this activity. This will be on Thursday 26 th March at 2.30pm.
