About Martin Cooper He was born on December 26, 1928 Graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1950 After graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserves where he severed as a submarine officer during the Korean War In 1957 he went on to earn his Masters degree from IIT in electrical engineering He has 11 patents in the wireless communications industry When working for Motorola Cooper conceived the first handheld mobile phone He is considered the “Father of the Cell Phone” He is the first person in history to make a handheld cellular phone call in public
