ADOPT-A-PLATOON As part of our new community service initiative CAPS (Community Awareness Programs & Services) we have adopted a military platoon of 40 which 4 of them are females. Our goal is to mail at least 10 letters a week to the troops. We would love for you, your family and especially your child/ren to participate by sending your letters and drawings/pictures of support to: or Hip Hop Education, c/o Soldier Letters P.O. Box Capitol Heights, MD Because we are not sending to an individual soldier we ask that you address your letter as follows: Dear American If you would like to send any other items that the troops have requested below is a list of items that you can send as we will send a care package once a month to support our troops. They would appreciate: any snacks such as: beef /turkey jerky, dried fruit, fruit cups, trail mix, gum, sunflower seeds, chips, crackers. hard candy, any kind of cookies, protein/granola bars, powder drink mix, toiletries/hygiene items for both genders, feminine hygiene products, good razors/shaving cream in a tube, after shave, body spray, bar/liquid soaps (moisturizing), shampoo, leave in conditioners, (water is very harsh on skin and hair), toothpaste/brushes, eye drops, foot powders, deodorants, anything girly, underwear (male/females-Sm-Med-Lrg), anything to help make their sleeping quarters a bit more homey, (non-aerosol) air fresheners, (non-aerosol) insect repellent w/Deet, sweat proof sun block/sunscreen w/high SPF, lip balm w/SPF, Cortisone Cream (anti itch cream), fly traps, medicated body powder (for heat rash). For their down time, they would appreciate: anything to help to keep Soldiers morale up: lots of support letters, a variety of current magazines/books, word puzzle books, arts & crafts, playing cards, board games, dominoes, AA, AAA batteries, blank CD’s, DVD’s, TV movies, used video games “All Occasion” cards stationery to mail home, outdoor games, flag football, horseshoes. To help with sanitation and storage: Paper plates, Disposable cups, Paper towels, Anti-bacterial hand soap, Hand Sanitizer, Disinfectant Wipes (Clorox), Glad/Ziploc storage containers (or similar), Zip top sandwich bags, quart and gallon (both regular and freezer) Please send hygiene items separate from food items. If you would like to send goods to be included in the monthly care package please send those items to: Hip Hop Education, c/o Soldier Care Package 1106 Chapelwood Lane, Capitol Heights, MD We ask that if you would like items to be included we must have them before the 20 th of each month.
