The Interstate Chemicals Clearinghouse (IC2) is an association of state, local, and tribal governments that promotes a clean environment, healthy communities, and a vital economy through the development and use of safer chemicals and products. The IC2 currently comprises approximately 30 organizations. Half are state and local agencies, and half are businesses, NGOs, and academic institutions. It is a membership organization, and we always welcome new members, so please talk with me if you have questions or would be interested in joining. IC2 Goals Avoid duplication and enhance efficiency and effectiveness of agency initiatives on chemicals through collaboration and coordination Build governmental capacity to identify and promote safer chemicals and products Ensure that agencies, businesses, and the public have ready access to high-quality and authoritative chemicals data, information, and assessment methods
IC2 Functions Support health and environmental agencies with development and implementation of programs to promote use of safer chemicals and products Support the development of alternatives assessment methods and identification of safer alternatives Share data and information on use, hazard, exposure, and alternatives

Washington Children’s Safe Product Act The Children’s Safe Product Reporting Rule requires manufacturers of children's products sold in Washington to report if their product contains a Chemical of High Concern to Children. Ecology also tests products to ensure that manufacturers are reporting accurate information about their children’s products and are complying with laws regulating other chemicals.
