NETWORK EVENT THURSDAY 6 TH October 2011 Aims To provide an overview of human rights. To explain the importance of human rights in healthcare. To examine some practical case studies. To update on progress on Human Rights in Healthcare Programme – NHS + Voluntary Sector.

Human Rights in Healthcare Programme Human Rights assumed contested. Positive obligations on public authorities including health authorities to take a proactive approach to human rights. FREDA principles (Fairness, Respect, Equality, Dignity, Autonomy) underpin Human Rights and public service ethos. A HRBA approach.  Empowers service users and staff.  Protects vulnerable people.  Improves outcomes. Why?
