The visit of the magi The flight to Egypt The massacre of infants The return from Egypt

 And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah: since from you shall come a ruler, who is to shepherd my people Israel.  This relates back to Moses; he is fulfilling the old testament prophecy. Back to Main Slide

 An angel had said in Joseph’s dream. “Rise, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him.  Here you can see Jesus fleeing just as Moses did from the Pharaoh in Egypt with his people. Back to Main Slide

 “when Herod realized that he had been deceived by the magi, he became furious. He ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years and under.  This relates back to Moses from when the life of the Pharoah was endangered and after asking the oracle he had sent many out to kill any new borns. Back to Main Slide

 “when Herod had died, behold, the angel of the lord appeared in the dream of Joseph in Egypt and said Rise and take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the child’s life is dead.”  You can relate to Moses because he left Egypt with the Israelites just as Jesus left Egypt with his parents.

Teaching About Oaths Teaching About Adultery Teaching about Divorce Teaching about Retaliation God and Money

 This teaching would be like saying do not use the lords name in vein in the 10 commandments that Moses received from God  Main Teaching: Do not lie or swear Back to Main Slide

 The teaching links back to the purity laws and the 10 commandments  Moses said to not commit adultery and Jesus restating this make him look like a New Moses Back to Main Slide

Jesus does not support divorce because it shows a lack of commitment to God, since it would be keeping the covenant Back to Main Slide

 This relates back to the idea of getting revenge against someone, or an eye for an eye, Jesus states it is better to face someone as an equal than an object Back to Main Slide

 Jesus says to get the idea across of not worshipping fake gods like the Israelites worshipping the Golden Bull when Moses went to the top of the mountain to receive the 10 commandments
