Thesis I love my mama but I’m tired of accepting her taking my money and neglecting my needs. I am 16 and I want to be emancipated! Emancipation is the legal way a child can "divorce” their parents.

Main Points At the age of 16 children should be allowed to choose who they live with Mistreated children shouldn’t have to live with their parents A parent should forfeit their rights to be a parent if they mistreat their children.

Main Point 1 In Illinois you do not need a parents permission to have an abortion. In Wisconsin at 16 your doctors doesn't have the right to share your medical information with your parents with out your permission. In most states at 16 you can get your license.

Main Point 2 According to childabuse.com in 2007 about three children died each day in the United States from abuse or neglect.childabuse.com If your parent is on drugs or an alcoholic and has been using your money you earn or the money you receive from the government is a good cause for a child to be emancipated.

Main Point 3 It takes more than pushing a baby out and a little bit of sperm to make you a parent.

Conclusion Emancipation is the legal way a child can “divorce” their parents At the age of 16 children should be allowed to choose who they live with, Mistreated children shouldn’t have to live with their parents, and a parent should forfeit their rights if they mistreat their children. Emancipation is a taboo topic because growing up you learn you must obey your parents but at 16 most of us in this room started making our own decision and in most states at 16 you can start working and get your license. If you are in a situation where you just can’t bear to live under your parents rule anymore maybe emancipation is for you.
