Hello and welcome to Poppy Igoe and GOLD12123 production we hope you enjoy as we worked very hard to make this to help people who want to know more about the three castles. Also this PowerPoint has all you need to know about castles such as Motte and Bailey, Stone keep castles and Concentric castle. Introduction

 Motte and bailey castles were first type of castle's and were built by the Normans. They were built on a big mound and were built over twenty five feet high. At the bottom of the moat was Bailey and at the top the castle would stand. A wooden fence would surround the Castle for protection. The first Motte Bailey castle was Winsor castle one of the homes for the Kings and Queens. Mott and Bailey castles only took a couple of weeks to build as they were so cheap. These castles were made of wood and eventually would rot away. Motte and bailey

Stone keep castles Stone castles were built by William the Conquer. Stone castles were very tall and because Stone castles were high they had a grate advantage of seeing long distances. In the 12 th century castles were improved by having wood to having stone. Some Stone Castles are still around today such as Conway castle and ect. Stone castles were fire proof and weather proof and easy to source. Stone castles had 2 floors on the bottom floor there was the kitchen and lower hall and on the top floor was a upper hall and the living room.

Concentric castles The first concentric castle was dover castle. Castles were built in the 12 th and 13 th century to improve attack plans. Concentric means a circle inside a circle. Concentric castles were built by Henry lll. The two walls between a castle was called a death hole. There were many walls to secure to make sure that the enemy wouldn’t be able to get through and if they did they would still have a another wall to get through. Dover Castle is still around today. Concentric castles were the 3 rd type of castle's
