Creative Writing Bellringers Feb 21-Mar 9

Bellringer 2/21 Describe a memorable event, positive or negative, and how it felt to you. Do not name the feeling (show don’t tell). Use all of your five senses to describe this event.

Bellringer 2/22 Think of a famous symbol. Describe it and tell what it stands for. Why has it become a symbol?

Bellringer 2/24 What would the world be like if everyone were forced to move to space (not another planet)? How would people survive? What would the houses look like? What types of food would be available?

Bellringer 2/27 Describe a scene in which two people, who do not like each other, are forced to ride in the back of a cab together.

Bellringer 2/28 Describe a time which you bought something based on an advertisement that you saw/heard about the product. What enticed you to purchase it?

Bellringer 2/29 Mention all of these words in a story that ends in a compromise: Spaghetti, mechanic, sky, crazy socks, and credit cards.

Bellringer 3/1 The dictionary has over 200,000 words defined. Grab one from the shelf and randomly pick out 10 unfamiliar words. (These are the blue books under the student mailboxes) DO NOT LOOK AT THE DEFINITION! Now create fun meanings for these words. What do each of these words remind you of? What do you think each should mean? ( You can look at the real meaning after you complete the exercise)

Bellringer 3/2 Write about what you would cook for an enemy. Include the words sweet, society, proper, copy, and blue.

Bellringer 3/5 Write a brief story that includes all of these lines: – “I WISH I’D THOUGHT OF THAT” – “DO YOU THINK YOU COULD KEEP BOTH OF YOUR FEET OUT OF TROUBLE?” – “JUST ONE TIME I’D HANKER FOR A STORE BOUGHT COAT” – “PINKY, YOU EVER SEE A FLUTTERWHEEL?”

Bellringer 3/6 Describe your favorite candy. Show Don’t Tell. Describe your least favorite candy as well.

Bellringer 3/7 What makes a mystery story good? What elements does it need to have? What are some good mysteries that you have read or watched?

Bellringer 3/8 Complete the prompt creatively “The sleuth was close to solving the case…”

Bellringer 3/9 Complete the prompt creatively. “It was the best Pep Rally ever…” It’s Friday! Turn in Bellringers today.
