 Our Mission: To serve as a collaborative body that fosters positive staff relations between institutions of higher education and state and local administrations.  Our Vision: To partner with all state assisted institutions of higher education in Ohio in an effort to promote and gather information and to inform our constituents of ideas and concerns regarding all staff councils.

 OSCHE member schools collaborate on shared interests of higher education in Ohio, leveraging our professional membership to affect change both within our own institutions and at the local and state level through a close relationship with the Chancellor.

 Relationship with the Chancellor ◦ Quarterly meetings at the Chancellor’s office. ◦ Chancellor or representative will give an update at each quarterly meeting.  “Reporting Out”/Current Topics ◦ Sharing current trends at our institution or within higher education ◦ Pay/salary increases; benefits; tuition rates; layoffs/terminations/furloughs; enrollment; new/cut programs; new collaborations; parking; staff councils

 Sounding board for required mandates from the Department of Education  Opportunity to provide insight and feedback to the Chancellor about policies and procedures related to higher education  Discuss budget trends and what other institutions are doing related to cost savings

 Support and networking ◦ Ability to share policies that have already been established at some institutions as well as connecting with the appropriate person at another institution (Ex. Smoke Free policy, Title IX).  The OSCHE listserv ◦ Questions related to policy and practice are presented to the group. The shared responses often help schools to leverage change. ◦ Articles on federal funding and smart phone usage. ◦ Articles on collaborations between member schools (ex. OSU and Sinclair with unmanned aerial systems and data analytics.

 Some of the more recent questions have been regarding: ◦ Performance reviews and 360 evaluations ◦ campus closures around the holidays ◦ Classified staff handbooks and salary increases ◦ Recruiting Solutions as it relates to VEVRAA ◦ Faculty Emeritus ◦ Sharing banked sick leave ◦ Summer hours, specifically related to areas that service students ◦ Smoking cessation resources ◦ Smoke Free policies

 Collaborating for the future for higher education in Ohio.  Member schools: ◦ Bowling Green State University ◦ Columbus State Community College ◦ Lorain County Community College ◦ Sinclair Community College ◦ The Ohio State University ◦ The University of Akron ◦ University of Toledo ◦ Wright State University
