Facts about people who are Visually Impaired Every seven minutes, someone in America becomes blind or visually impaired. There are an estimated 10 million Blind and Visually Impaired people in the United States. About 1.3 million of these are legally blind. People are considered “legally blind” if their vision is less than 20/200 even with glasses or contacts. Only about 10 percent of the Blind see nothing at all. LET’S PRAY… for funds to keep full-time braille transcribers on staff. for funds to create new children’s books in braille. for Blind children and others to be able to adapt to their disabilities and become full members of churches and society. that every Blind person would have the opportunity to experience the joy of salvation. for funds to keep full-time braille transcribers on staff. for funds to create new children’s books in braille. for Blind children and others to be able to adapt to their disabilities and become full members of churches and society. that every Blind person would have the opportunity to experience the joy of salvation.

C. S. Lewis’ book The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe done in Braille. It’s the first of its kind because each picture is raised so a Blind person can “feel” the picture. BGMC provided the funds for this project.
Here’s another new concept. A “picture” book is taken apart. Then a clear, see-through sheet of braille is slipped between each spread and the book is spiral-bound back together. This allows the blind and seeing to read and enjoy a picture book together. BGMC also provided the funds for this project.
